Getting on the Virtual Shelves: Untangling the eBook Supply Chain

With the plethora of new devices (Kindle, Sony Reader, Plastic Logic, Cool-er Reader, and many others), new handheld platforms (Kindle, Stanza, ScrollMotion, Shortcovers, B&N Reader) and a retail supply chain just starting to work with a cross-platform standard called ePub, it is not simple to understand how to get your ebook on sale in as many places as possible. And merchandising your ebook -- getting the equivalent of the window or the eye-level shelf -- is another set of new challenges. This panel of publishers, a distributor or two, and a retailer will discuss the complex undertaking that is distribution of ebooks through an increasingly complex supply chain.
